IOR opens nominations for J&E Hall Gold Medal as award marks 50 years
UK – Nominations have opened for the J&E Hall Gold Medal, with the 2027 award marking 50 years since the RACHP innovation prize was established.
Organised by the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR), the award recognises practical innovation in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technology and carries a £5,000 prize.
Recognising practical innovation
The medal is open to individuals or teams responsible for recent technological advances, including innovative designs, installations and developments that make an original contribution to the sector.
Entries can also cover systems with significant future potential and work in new or unusual areas of design and installation.
The award was initiated in 1977 as the Hall-Thermotank Gold Medal and previous recipients include refrigeration pioneer Gustav Lorentzen.
J&E Hall managing director Andrew Bowden FInstR said the anniversary reflected the company’s longstanding commitment to recognising technical innovation across the sector.
For half a century, the medal has celebrated individuals whose pioneering achievements have advanced the science, technology and practical application of refrigeration worldwide
