FRÄNKISCHE launches street elbow for MLCP systems

UK – FRÄNKISCHE has expanded its alpex multilayer composite pipe system with what it describes as the first 90-degree street elbow with a male insertion end developed for an MLCP press system.

The patented fitting connects directly into another compatible fitting, removing the need for a short intermediate section of pipe. FRÄNKISCHE said this can eliminate an installation step, halve the number of pressings needed for the connection and reduce its space requirement by up to 30 per cent.

Fewer components and pressings

Street elbows are widely used with metal pipework, but FRÄNKISCHE said MLCP installations have previously required an intermediate pipe section between fittings.

The new design allows the elbow and adjoining fitting to be connected and pressed directly, helping installers create offsets and changes of direction with fewer components.

By removing the need for an additional fitting and a short length of pipe to achieve the same offset or change in direction, installers can reduce job complexity, potentially saving both labour and material costs

More compact pipework layouts

The fitting is intended for applications including Z-bends, pipe route crossings and compact equipment connections. FRÄNKISCHE also identifies prefabricated houses and container modules as applications where reducing the space occupied by pipework can be beneficial.

The street elbow is available in 16mm and 20mm sizes and follows the company’s earlier introduction of a swept elbow for its MLCP range.

Compatibility with alpex systems

The fitting is compatible with FRÄNKISCHE’s alpex and alpex L systems. Laser markings on the pressing sleeve identify compatibility with F and TH pressing contours.

FRÄNKISCHE has reminded installers that MLCP pipes and fittings should be used as a complete manufacturer-approved system, as compatibility cannot be guaranteed when components from different suppliers are mixed.
