Daikin extends low-load compressor across Urusara X range in Japan

Japan – Daikin will fit a small-capacity high-efficiency compressor across every capacity class in its 2027-model Urusara X R Series, targeting prolonged low-output operation in highly airtight, highly insulated homes

The Japanese-market wall-mounted reversible heating and cooling range will be available from 1 November 2026, covering capacity classes from 2.2kW to 8.0kW.

Daikin said stable indoor temperatures in well-insulated, airtight dwellings can leave room air conditioners operating at low output for longer periods. The manufacturer says the compressor development is intended to improve efficiency in these conditions.

Low-load operation has featured in earlier Urusara X models, but the updated range extends the compressor proposition to all capacity classes, including the 2.2kW and 2.5kW classes.

The range also introduces Heat Boost Control, which is linked to outdoor temperature. According to Daikin, the function activates at 2°C or below and increases heating capacity and airflow.

In a company comparison at an outdoor temperature of 2°C, Daikin said its new 4.0kW AN407ARP configuration reached a 22°C setpoint in around 14 minutes, compared with around 18 minutes for the preceding AN406ARP. The test started from an indoor temperature of 10°C. Daikin also reported that, after 10 minutes, the floor-level area at or above 22°C was 1.2 times larger with the new unit.

A low-airflow sleep mode is also included. Daikin states that the 2.2kW to 2.8kW classes operate at 35dB or below in its specified cooling and automatic-airflow condition.
