Installer accessing government login for Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

BUS installer portal moves to GOV.UK One Login

UK – Installers registered with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) will need a GOV.UK One Login account to access the scheme’s online portal from 3 November 2026, Ofgem has confirmed. The change affects businesses submitting heat pump grant applications, redeeming vouchers and monitoring existing applications.

Ofgem has confirmed that installers can create their new login accounts ahead of the changeover date to ensure continued access to the online service.

What existing installers need to do

Existing BUS installers must create a GOV.UK One Login using the same email address registered with their Boiler Upgrade Scheme account.

To set up the account, users will need their registered email address and either a UK mobile phone number or an authenticator app to receive security codes.

Where businesses have multiple employees accessing the BUS portal, each individual will need their own GOV.UK One Login account. This applies even where users operate under the same company installer account.

Requirements for new installers

Businesses joining the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for the first time must create a GOV.UK One Login before registering for a BUS installer account. Both accounts must use the same email address.

New businesses must also complete the existing installer registration process, which requires MCS certification, identification, proof of home address and evidence of a business bank account.

Once Ofgem has established the business account, individual users will receive invitations to access the online service.

Access to voucher applications

The BUS installer portal enables registered businesses to submit voucher applications, monitor their progress and request grant payments following the commissioning of eligible installations.

The new sign-in requirement applies to access to these existing portal functions.

Installers experiencing difficulties with their GOV.UK One Login account should contact GOV.UK One Login support. Queries relating specifically to BUS installer accounts can be directed to Ofgem at [email protected] or by calling 0330 053 2006.

Further information, including instructions for creating an account, is available through Ofgem’s official BUS installer guidance.
