Climalife launches Datafrost PG25 for data centre cooling
Germany – Climalife has launched Datafrost PG25, a new heat transfer fluid developed for data centre cooling applications, at Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg. The ready-to-use fluid is designed for liquid cooling technologies, including direct-to-chip systems, as well as conventional air cooling systems using chilled-water circuits.
The product has been developed to meet the increasing cooling demands of high-performance servers, particularly those supporting artificial intelligence applications.
Formulated for liquid cooling
Datafrost PG25 contains 25% monopropylene glycol and long-lasting corrosion inhibitors designed to protect cooling circuits. According to Climalife, the formulation also helps limit bacterial growth.
The fluid is yellow and fluoresces under ultraviolet light, allowing engineers to identify leaks within cooling systems.
Climalife identifies direct-to-chip cooling as a key application, including systems using coolant distribution units (CDUs) to circulate fluid through cold plates attached to server components. Other applications include computer room air handlers (CRAHs), rear-door heat exchangers and water-loop heat exchangers.
Responding to changing cooling requirements
The launch comes as data centre operators increasingly consider liquid cooling to manage the higher heat densities associated with AI and high-performance computing.
Rather than relying exclusively on air cooling, direct-to-chip technology removes heat from server components through liquid-cooled cold plates, transferring it into a circulating coolant system.
Datafrost PG25 is supplied ready to use, without further dilution, and is available in 1,000-litre intermediate bulk containers or bulk quantities.
