CIBSE launches heat pump campaign
UK – The Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE) has launched a major new heat pump campaign.
CIBSE recognises the key role that heat pumps have to play in the decarbonisation of heat and adds that scaling deployment must go hand in hand with competence, quality and performance.
To this end, the new heat pump campaign aims to communicate the role CIBSE has in supporting the industry, specifically in terms of technical guidance and training.
CIBSE technical guidance aims to ensure that heat pumps are designed, installed and operated to deliver measurable performance. It includes:
- AM16 Heat pump installations for multi-unit residential buildings
Best practice guidance for residential heat pump applications, covering system design, commissioning and operational performance. - AM17 Heat pump installations for large non-domestic buildings
Comprehensive guidance for large-scale heat pump installations in complex buildings, addressing electrical integration, system design challenges and real-world performance. - TM51 Ground source heat pumps
Detailed technical guidance on ground source heat pump systems, their design considerations and application. - Domestic Heating Design Guide
Produced by the CIBSE Domestic Building Services Panel, this guide supports low-temperature heating system design and provides essential principles underpinning successful heat pump deployment.
The heat pump campaign provides detailed information on the work of the Domestic Building Services Panel, representing over 12 member organisations in the mechanical, regulatory and training sector. The organisation has significant influence in political, standardisation and commercial policy, providing design, technical, and good practice guidance for heating engineers. There is also a section on the HVAC Systems Group, which supports the efficient design, installation and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
