Baxi heat pumps installed at Buckinghamshire rental development
UK – Four Baxi air source heat pumps are providing heating and hot water at a new-build housing development in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. Hedsor Billinghurst comprises two four-bedroom and two five-bedroom homes developed by Taplow-based Copas Brothers Construction.
Copas, which retains its developments as rental properties, said it now specifies heat pumps for all its new-build homes as it prepares for the Future Homes Standard, which comes into force in England on 24 March 2027.
The development uses two 7kW Baxi HP50 air source heat pumps paired with 250-litre cylinders and two 11kW HP50 units with 300-litre cylinders. Baxi provided heat-loss calculations and SAP support during the design stage, as well as installation and commissioning assistance.
Copas Brothers Construction’s in-house plumber also completed Baxi’s Heat Pump Installer course, including supervised commissioning of the first installation with Baxi heat pump engineers.
Ian Mason, project manager at Copas, said: “With this being our third project involving heat pumps, it’s clear to us that the level of support you receive from a manufacturer can make a monumental difference to the smooth running of the project.
“This was our first project with Baxi, and from system sizing to technical support, we always knew there was someone we could pick up the phone to for advice.”
Barney Wharton-Jones, national sales manager for residential specification at Baxi, said developers needed support throughout the design, installation and commissioning of heat pump systems.
“The homes are now occupied, and the systems have been running well with no complaints,” he said.
Copas has subsequently selected Baxi for a further five-home development.
