Installation flexibility for Vaillant’s aroTHERM propane ASHP line-up
UK – Vaillant has introduced a new Flexible Space Function (FSF) across the latest additions to its aroTHERM propane ASHP range, aiming to remove traditional installation barriers for systems operating on R290 refrigerant.
Both the aroTHERM plus and aroTHERM pro line-ups feature FSF. Accessed by a qualified installer during commissioning, this setting means the fan can run continuously, allowing the units to be positioned closer to windows and doorways because they require less clearance to comply with protection zone requirements for systems using propane. This offers greater siting flexibility, particularly beneficial for space-limited plots and high-density housing developments where design freedom is at a premium.
aroTHERM plus
Available to pre-order from June and via local merchants from July, the all-new flagship aroTHERM plus is said to represent a significant leap forward from its predecessor after Vaillant listened to installer feedback and homeowner demands.
Mark Wilkins, Technology and Solutions Portfolio Director, said: “The aroTHERM plus has always been our most popular model, but we knew we could make it even better. We have been committed to leading the market with continuous innovation, and this latest addition to the range demonstrates that we are always looking for those small refinements that will make a real difference to both the installer and the end user.”
Vaillant highlights the following updates to the latest model:
Improved performance: the new range offers COP figures of up to 5.39.
Quiet operation: the new aroTHERM plus air source heat pump includes Vaillant’s Sound Safe System, resulting in an improved sound performance from 44 db(A), making it ideal for residential installations.
Flexible Space Function: For homeowners, this helps make the most of outdoor space and gives more options for the heat pump to be fitted in a location that works for them.
New anthracite colourway: designed for contemporary homes, the anthracite finish aims to integrate with modern property aesthetics.
Premium interface with semi-touchscreen control: the new interface features an intuitive semi-touch display, giving homeowners and installers premium control over their heating system.
Rewards and guarantee: when registered through myREWARDS, Vaillant’s loyalty platform, the new aroTHERM plus comes with up to 7-years guarantee when fitted with a Vaillant uniSTOR high recovery cylinder.

aroTHERM pro
The aroTHERM pro models complement the aroTHERM plus range and are designed for social housing and new-build markets with lightweight, flexible, and smaller footprint options. The pro range comprises three models (5kW, 7kW, and 11kW outputs), all featuring single fan operation, a flexible space function and available in an anthracite colourway.
Vaillant says the aroTHERM pro has been specifically engineered for space-restricted sites. With a height range of 0.75m to 1.10m, a smaller footprint and delivering outputs up to 11kW, it aims to offer a practical solution where space is at a premium without compromising performance. The compact dimensions also aim to simplify transportation, handling, and installation on site, often a key consideration for contractors working across multi-plot developments.
Steve Cipriano, Commercial Director UK and Ireland at Vaillant, said: “The all-new aroTHERM pro has been engineered specifically with the specification market and social housing projects in mind. Lightweight and easy to install, it is ideally suited to social and private housing projects and makes sustainable heating accessible to a wider variety of homes.
“The specification and social housing providers need proven, effective and commercially viable low-carbon heating options. The aroTHERM pro widens the choice within our portfolio for our specification customers, sitting alongside the aroTHERM plus to deliver flexible, efficient, and sustainable heating.”
