RSE takes 4.1MW R290 industrial heat pumps into US market

USA – Czech engineering company RSE is entering the US market with industrial R290 heat pumps offering capacities up to 4.1MW and chillers providing up to 3.5MW of cooling.

The products are being introduced through RSE Energy LLC and use a modular platform based on oil-free centrifugal turbocompressors, gas-dynamic bearings and intelligent multi-compressor control.

Modular industrial heat pumps

RSE is based in Brno, Czech Republic, where it also operates a production facility. Its existing heat-pump range includes individual modules with nominal thermal capacities from 350kW to 870kW, with multiple modules able to be combined within a system.

The equipment uses R290 refrigerant, while RSE says its turbocompressor technology employs three-stage compression with inverter control to maintain efficiency as load changes.

Data centres targeted

RSE is also targeting the US data-centre cooling market with its chiller technology.

The company says its RSE 350 HP/MT platform achieves a calculated cooling COP of 9.32 at full load at SST 30°C and SDT 45°C. The figure relates specifically to cooling performance under those stated operating conditions.

Its modular design allows cooling capacity to be adjusted as demand changes, with the US chiller offering scaling to 3.5MW.

Wider US expansion

The thermal technology launch forms part of a broader move into the US energy market. RSE Energy LLC has also become an authorised sales and service provider for Olympian diesel and gas generator sets within its authorised US territory.

The Caterpillar-designed and manufactured units range from 20kW to 200kW for standby, demand-response and prime-power applications.

RSE says it has more than 1.5GW of realised and contracted energy projects internationally across a wider portfolio that includes cogeneration, diesel power generation, battery storage, industrial heat pumps, chillers and modular boiler systems.
