Trane expands commercial heat pump range with new IntelliPak and Axiom units
USA – Trane has expanded its North American commercial heat pump offering with new IntelliPak 1 rooftop heat pumps from 30 to 60 tons, alongside updates to its Axiom vertical-stack water-source heat pumps for multi-storey buildings.
New IntelliPak rooftop heat pumps
The new IntelliPak 1 Heat Pump Rooftop Units are available in 30 to 60-ton (105 to 211 kW)capacities and have been designed to fit the existing footprint and rooftop curbs used by legacy IntelliPak 1 equipment, reducing the need for adaptors during replacement projects.
The R454B units use Trane eFlex variable-speed compressors and fans and are available as all-electric heat pumps, with auxiliary modulating SCR electric heat or in hybrid dual-fuel configurations. Symbio 800 controls provide monitoring, diagnostics and service functionality. System efficiencies are listed up to 17.7 IEER.
Energy recovery added to Axiom range
Trane has also updated its Axiom vertical-stack water-source heat pumps with a factory-installed energy recovery ventilator option.
The ERV preconditions incoming outdoor air using recovered energy, which Trane says can reduce HVAC energy use and equipment strain while supporting indoor air quality.
A new 65-inch cabinet has also been introduced for installations where space is restricted.

Designed for multi-storey buildings
Axiom vertical-stack units are designed for multi-storey applications, with units able to be installed on successive floors to minimise piping and electrical installation requirements.
The Axiom range covers capacities from 0.75 to 3 tons (2.6 to 10.6 kW) and uses R454B refrigerant. Trane has also redesigned the refrigerant chassis to remain backwards compatible with previous Axiom vertical-stack equipment, simplifying replacement where existing cabinets can be retained.
The IntelliPak and Axiom developments were announced as part of a wider update to Trane’s commercial HVAC portfolio in North America.
