Pipelife unveils indoor R290 apartment heat pump

Ireland – IRELAND: Pipelife Ireland has introduced a fully indoor R290 apartment heat pump, aiming to remove the need for the installation of outdoor units.

The Inova is a decentralised system installed within each dwelling. Outside air is drawn in and discharged through ductwork, while the refrigeration components are contained in the indoor unit. The heat pump operates separately from any installed ventilation system.

The manufacturer specifies either 150mm round ductwork or 220mm x 90mm rectangular ducting. It says the unit has been tested with duct runs of up to 10m from an external wall, and that this location can be achieved without performance loss.

Pipelife states that Inova delivers 3.2kW at a 35°C water temperature and 3.14kW at 55°C, with stated seasonal coefficients of performance of 4.7 and 3.49 respectively. The unit is intended to provide space heating and domestic hot water through a separate 200-litre pre-plumbed cylinder, and can be connected to radiators or underfloor heating. Pipelife also gives a maximum water temperature of 75°C.

The company adds that Inova can support compliance with Ireland’s Part L and Part F requirements. Compliance, however, remains dependent on the full dwelling and services design, including DEAP assessment and ventilation provision where applicable.
