Jonas Steen appointed CEO of Beijer Ref

Sweden – Beijer Ref has appointed Jonas Steen as its new Chief Executive Officer and President, effective 1 November 2026. Steen, currently Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Group’s EMEA business, succeeds Joel Davidsson, who has served as acting CEO since August.

Davidsson will continue as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), while Steen will retain responsibility for EMEA during a transition period as the company begins recruiting his successor.

The appointment follows the departure of former CEO Christopher Norbye, who stepped down on 14 August 2026.

Extensive international experience

Steen joined Beijer Ref in 2010 and has held several senior leadership positions across the Group, including COO for Asia-Pacific and Vice President for the Nordic region and Eastern Europe.

He currently oversees the EMEA business, which generates annual net sales of approximately SEK 23 billion. His previous Asia-Pacific responsibilities covered operations with annual sales of approximately SEK 6 billion.

Beijer Ref operates across 45 countries, supplying refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment and related technologies. The Group reported net sales of approximately SEK 37 billion in 2025.

Focus on continued growth

Per Bertland, Chairperson of Beijer Ref, said Steen’s international experience and commercial leadership had been important factors in the appointment.

“His ability to combine strategic vision with a clear commercial focus and engaging leadership provides a strong foundation for further strengthening the company’s position and driving long-term, profitable growth,” said Bertland.

Steen said his priorities would include developing the Group’s offering and strengthening customer relationships.

“My ambition is to further enhance our offering, strengthen our customer relationships and lay the foundation for long-term profitable growth,” said Steen.

Leadership transition

Davidsson, who became acting CEO following Norbye’s departure, will return to his CFO-only responsibilities when Steen takes up the position.

The leadership change comes ahead of Beijer Ref’s third-quarter interim report, scheduled for publication on 22 October, which will be presented by Davidsson.

The appointment establishes a permanent leadership structure following the company’s CEO transition earlier this year.
