Beijer Ref Academy showcases HVACR technologies

UK – Beijer Ref Academy welcomed more than 50 customers to its Wetherby training centre for an Open Day showcasing CO₂, A2L refrigerants, heat pumps and other technologies shaping the HVACR sector.

Held at the Academy’s Thorp Arch facility on 1 October, the event gave visitors access to live equipment, practical demonstrations and technical specialists from Beijer Ref and a number of supporting manufacturers.

Hands-on demonstrations

Sessions throughout the day allowed engineers and contractors to see refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment in operation and discuss installation, servicing and training requirements.

The event also focused on the shift towards lower-GWP and natural refrigerants, with CO₂ and A2L technologies among the areas demonstrated.

Visitors were also introduced to the Refrigerant Support Hub, which provides technical and refrigerant-related support to businesses across the HVACR sector.

Industry suppliers support event

Suppliers supporting the Open Day included SCM Frigo, BITZER UK, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioning Europe, Conex Bänninger UK, Aspen Pumps Group and National Refrigerants.

Their involvement gave visitors the opportunity to speak directly with product specialists and see a range of equipment and technologies first-hand.

Focus on future skills

The Wetherby Academy provides practical training across refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, refrigerants and electrical skills.

The Open Day highlighted the growing need for engineers to develop skills around new refrigerants, equipment designs and regulatory requirements as the HVACR sector continues to change.
