Panasonic M Series heat pumps replace gas boilers at Together Housing offices
UK – Together Housing has replaced three gas boilers at its Prospect House offices in Blackburn with four 30kW Panasonic M Series R290 air-to-water heat pumps, extending its heat pump programme from domestic properties into its commercial estate.
Halifax-based Together Housing is a social housing provider managing more than 38,000 homes across the North of England. The project was delivered by Manchester-based Concept Heating Systems and builds on a wider programme with Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions that has already delivered more than 2,000 domestic heat pump retrofits.
Improved temperature control
Together Housing said the previous heating system had produced uneven temperatures across the building, with some areas too warm and others not warm enough.
The organisation said the new heat pump system has provided more consistent temperatures across the offices.
Removing the boilers has also eliminated the building’s gas standing charge. Panasonic said the new system has reduced energy consumption, although no measured energy or running-cost figures were provided.
Our ambitions for net zero and decarbonisation are massive. We want to get all fossil fuels out of our properties by 2038

Wider retrofit programme
Earlier projects between the organisations used Panasonic Aquarea J Series air-to-water heat pumps in homes across Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Together Housing has set a target to remove fossil-fuel heating from at least 29,000 homes while also decarbonising its commercial estate.
