MHI launches SL5 central controller for commercial HVAC

Japan – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems has launched a new central controller capable of managing up to 256 compatible indoor units across medium and large buildings.

The SC-SL5-E, developed for international markets, can centrally monitor and control air-conditioning equipment and commercial heat-pump products, including operating status and system settings.

The new SL5 adds a Floor classification to the existing Block and Group functions, allowing systems to be organised around a building’s layout. Up to 20 Blocks can be configured, covering areas such as communal spaces, individual offices, meeting rooms and separate floors.

MHI has also increased the touchscreen from 9in to 10.4in and reduced the controller depth from around 90mm to 50mm.

The company said the changes are intended to improve energy management and reduce the workload associated with routine facility operation.

The SL5 is being introduced sequentially in Japan and international markets.
